I attended for a wedding. The room was spacious with two bathrooms, ideal for all of us to get dressed up before the event. The views of Sheffield were spectacular as the room stretched between two points and offered large windows on either side. We attended the bar later on, which had windows looking into the Winter gardens. It was busy, but the service was fast. Everyone had a great time.

Our stay was perfect. The rooms were lovely, clean and large, also dark with the curtains drawn! The location of the hotel is ideal, a short walk from be train station, and the same into the main town.
The spa was lovely, although more loungers around the pool would make it better. Our treatments were well organised, and the complimentary hand massage was a nice bonus.
The included evening meal and breakfast were tasty and the staff were accommodating for our individual needs.

Arrived on Friday night for a wedding the following day. Was shown to our room which had a dual aspect. Therefore, we had a lovely view of Sheffield City Centre. Had a couple of bar meals and drinks, the bar staff were amazing. The following day the wedding reception was held downstairs, a truly lovely venue with amazing food. We danced the night away on the lovely disco floor. Breakfast the next morning was fabulous - Eggs Benedict. They catered extremely well for a large crowd and made all of us feel special. The staff were very alert and on-the-ball.

Checked in and out requested Twin room was a double. This was easily sorted and we were given a twin......
the Twin room was dirty. Sticky and Soap scum all over the bath, the toilet seat had poo on it, and several pubic hairs in the bathroom. We brought this to the attention of the reception team, who swiftly sent a cleaner. Unfortunately the cleaner thought it acceptable to use a bath towel and water only to "clean" the mess. Obviously, again I brought this to the attention of the reception team who sorted another room move.
We booked the Mercure St Paul's filling a recommendation that the aroma spa room was amazing..... unfortunately, we went to the spa and this room was "out of order" :(.
The following day we checked out a little late, due to a health issue this couldn't be avoided. By 12:10 the phone rang hurrying us out of the room..... again at 12:20 and then again at 12:30! It felt pressured and uncomfortable with the threat that if we stay longer then it would be chargeable! I explained I'd unfortunately experienced a fit shortly before and was then advised 1pm latest..... I thought given my already very poor experience in the £90 a night room that a little leeway might be extended.
Overall just not what I expect from a premium Hotel. On a positive note, the reception staff were all very good and receptive to my problems, especially on the check in day.

Very nice, large room. Huge comfortable bed. Lovely, fresh self service breakfast. Spa facilities and massage were excellent. Evening meal choice was a bit limited and some parts of the meal could have been better. The food was generally quite tasty though.
