Really enjoyed the visit, coincided with a Halloween event and it was lovely to see children being introduced into so much history and beauty so creatively

gardens. Fabulous House. If
you love plants then this is for
you. Lots going on. Nice cafe.
Free easy parking.

Beautiful old house and gardens , very family friendly , lovely helpful staff . Children loved the play area and we all enjoyed the lovely woodland trail , playing in the leaves and collecting Chestnuts , a lovely day out for all the family :-)

Lovely gardens and house although we struggled to make a whole day of it... the house admission gives you access to some rooms (not all).

We stopped at the garden restaurant for cake and drinks - it was a bit pricey and not a huge selection of cake to choose from..!

If you have kids there is also the 'venture playground' are young 'un was a bit too young. There was also a maize maze and woodland trail.

Wheelchair (or pushchair) access is awful. Accepted that this is a "garden setting" and outdoors, but the paths around the garden are the worst we've ever found for wheelchair access. Mostly sand, gravel, uneven stone. If you are in a wheelchair or have a buggy you will not be able to visit the house or toy museum (if you can make it that far up). The toy museum has a few steps up to it, no ramp. Even if you can transfer an get up the steps you are not allowed to use a wheelchair inside the building. Toilets are in a poor state of repair, food was okay. (You can access the cafe in a wheelchair, but you will need help to get up a very steep hill first!) Gardens themselves are nothing remarkable that you couldn't see elsewhere for free. Couldn't actually see the main house as it was closed, but the same no wheelchair rule apparently would have applied anyway.
