When ever I am in York I always go to Brigantes - awesome food and an excellent selection of beer. Staff are always brilliant.

An impressive nine real ales on, several were regional, but still an impressive number. It is a bar and brasserie, so it does have a High Street trendy bar feel to the interior which may be too your taste or not.
