Close to York centre. Lovely big room with massive, very comfortable bed. Friendly, helpful staff. Unfortunately food was not being served whilst we were there but they recommended The Rose and Crown next door and the food was top notch. Would definitely stay here again if we are in York.

Great atmosphere, warm and friendly pub serving an eclectic selection of unusual ales and ciders. One of few pubs in York to have a working (free) Bar Billiards table! Minimum spend for card is £10 but I had no problem with that considering the great range on offer. Located near Walmgate Bar and thus easy access to the city walls and the South side of town, The Waggon and Horses would make a great end point for a sensible night out, or a cosy stop along a Fulford pub crawl.
