We spent a couple of hours here during the Queen's birthday celebrations, and we were treated to the sites and sounds of a twenty one gun salute, given by the Northumbrian Regiment. Very impressive!

A beautifully well kept garden thats great for relaxing and just having a little explore. Contains the ruins of an old Abbey, part of the wall (which the foundations of are actually Roman) and many Roman sarcophagus'. Theres also lots of squirrels which are human friendly as there are a couple of people that come around and feed them, which kids seem to enjoy quite a lot. A very relaxing area to just spend time after a busy day exploring.

Very pleasant. Quiet and peaceful despite there being a lot of people about. Plenty of places to sit and accessable walk ways. Friendly locals.

The abbey ruins are interesting and the gardens are pleasant to walk around well worth the visit. The museum is well laid out with some amazing artifacts like the viking helmet, also the Roman exhibit is cool.Theres an entrance fee of around £7.00 but I wasn't complaining it's a great place.

This is a very historic, large and beautifully kept park for all ages to enjoy. Much to see, learn and of course places quiet and public to sit, chat, read or just be. There refreshment places albeit a little pricey but you must allow yourself to watch the wild bird display in a bid to raise money for endangered species
