Visiting York and decided to have an early dinner. I got there 20 minutes to 5 PM but they offered me to wait so I did. I ordered my food close to 5 PM, pressed Yorkshire lamb and rump, and was blown away with the taste/presentation. The food was just amazing. The waiters/staff were absolutely friendly too. Great atmosphere for couples and or singles. I was so glad and happy in the end of my dinner I wrote this immediately while still sitting in the bistro.

Have gone twice for brunch over the last few months.
Both times been disappointed. Food over cooked and slow to appear.
Great little place, with charm.
Have had some excellent dinners. Just need to work on the consistency of late.

Our table wasn't ready when we arrived. However we were seated outside in the garden and offered a drink on the house. This was a lovely touch, as it was only a 10 minute wait anyway.
The restaurant is obviously very small. However it does just seem to work.
The food was lovely, and having eaten here before I wouldn't have expected anything else.
The staff were very friendly and efficient helping to make it a lovely night.
The only slight negative was the fact that due to it being a warm evening the door was wedged open. The downside of this being the noise of car engines and the smell of fumes occasionally wafting in.
Oh.. plus. Some soft lighting in the garden would be a really big improvement.

I'm my opinion, this little gem is one of the best places to eat in Barnard Castle. Food is fantastic and presented beautifully and the staff are so helpful and welcoming. You can't come to Barnard Castle without checking this place out. Well done guys!!!
