A piece of history. Quite a dark pub with small rooms but it is quite nice. Good beer. Food is good.

Definitely a hidden gem....! Very close to the city centre of York, near the Shambles. Historic pub/hotel full of olde world charm. There's only a few rooms available. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic....worth the visit

Good pub to go for a decent pint of Timothy Taylors. On a warm day : you can sit outside on the wooden benches and tables. The odd staff may take a bit of getting used to, but mainly harmless and friendly.

Went for our anniversary today at 12:30pm and the food was perfect. The lady who served us was lovely and friendly. My wife is heavily pregnant and the lady looked after us so well. We will certainly come back to show our little one off... And to have the steak in ale pie again... Yummy

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights just about one year ago. We enjoyed our stay here so much that we still talk about this Inn the most out of our whole two and a half week foray to the UK from Canada. We loved the rooms and the pub downstairs, it is very well kept and you just feel immersed in history staying here. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. A few minutes walk to the shambles. Staying here has now put in my and my girlfriend's mind that we would like to actually one day move across the pond to York. A must stay!!
