The food was nice, I was expecting alittle more as this was my 1st visit and I had been told nice things and read the other reviews but it was just standard pub food hot and hearty. We visited on a Monday night which was quiz night so the atmosphere was good.
There were 6 of us altogether and I felt uncomfortable, watched and felt we were been spoken about while we sat trying to enjoy our evening, I felt very conscious about the noise level as the lady made a funny comment at us while we sat and ate our meal. I felt we were made to feel unwanted and rushed out.
I don't think I will be visiting again.

The deluxe double room was beautiful, very opulently designed, felt like a much more expensive room. They gave very generous tea and biscuits too, refilled each morning. We slept like a dream on the bed, which was massive. Breakfast was nice with a good amount of choice for different tastes, and it's only guests eating in the downstairs pub during breakfast so it's nice and quiet. The pub's also good for dinner and drinks, the food was nice and reasonably priced and the staff were really helpful. There's a bus stop just outside as well. Great little base for a trip around beautiful York, hope to visit again :)

Absolutely fantastic. Lovely, friendly staff. The room was fabulous & had everything we needed. Food was excellent both evenings & breakfast was outstanding. Very well situated for visiting York with an excellent bus service to and from the city. In good weather it wouldn't be a bad walk at about 2 miles. We will definitely be visiting again.
