Casual comfortable family friendly locally owned. The food is great

Good steak, but very dated and a bit dirty. Not unhealthy, dirty. Slow business. Not sure what keeps it going. Polite owner.

Hidden gem. Swing by and try any of the dishes. The catfish special and fish and chips plate were awesome. Family owned and operated.

I don't know why I choose to eat here. The outside is very unassuming and not very appealing. I was on a walk and getting hungry so I thought I'd try this restaurant. The seating and place settings were very elegant. I was served a free appetizer of olives and cheese. The salad was crisp and well chilled. The only downside was that the entree arrived before i had finished my salad. My entree of pan fried catfish was excellently prepared. I declined a desert but was still presented with a small plate of watermelon rind and a cookie. The service, food, and portions were excellent.

Well, I really wanted to love this retro spot, in business since 1963, but despite the warm welcome and quiet, dated ambiance the food was just awful. I can't stress enough how delightful our hosts and server were, however, there is no excuse for serving old food. I don't generally mind rolling with the seniors or watching Jeapordy and "The Wheel" as long as the sound is down, but I do need good food.

I ordered the sirloin which came with greek potatoes and a hunk of corn. The basic salad was good and the greek-style starter was nice, but at medium rare my steak was unpleasantly charred on the outside, tough and chewy. The potatoes were rubbery and no one touched their corn, which was so old and over boiled that the kernels were sunk in.

I got some pretty bad heartburn later, too because I am used to organic and grass-fed food. I don't even wanna know where they source their ingredients.

Not all old things and ways need to be preserved, and sadly the Townhouse is one of them.
