Best bookstore in Austin. Great selection of small titles and magazines, plus an awesome coffee bar. I also enjoy the employee recommendations.

A very inviting bookstore with a friendly, cozy vibe. They have a good selection with the most popular releases front and center. If you're looking for something specific or obscure, the staff is friendly and helpful.

Book People is an Austin institution, and for good reason. It's got a good selection of books, with staff suggestions all throughout the store. They frequently host talks and signings, and it's not uncommon for there to be one happening any time you swing by. Because of the layout, though, the sound of the events (and the cafe) are muted, and don't disturb your browsing.

Oddly enough, Book People also sells a variety of knicknacks and jewelry, which are available on and around the staircase.
