Excellent Tex-Mex restaurant in a chic area of Austin. Food was delicious and service was fast and friendly. Chips, salsa and tortillas are made on site. It's a busy restaurant and they serve quite efficiently. My only comment, not necessarily a complaint, is that it felt a bit "corporate."

The corn tortillas were the best the thing we had....the water was the second best. There is literally no reason to eat this flavorless, fake tourist garbage instead of finding some actual Mexican food. We could have made better food at home.

While visiting on a Saturday for lunch with a party of 12 was a bit of a wait, we still received acceptable service while seated in the back of the restaurant. The tortillas truly are the best in Texas, and the chips and salsa are great for bonding over with your pals. I ordered the Beef Alambres without bacon and it arrived to my specifications. The flavor met expectations for Mexican restaurant food and the portion was generous but not too heavy.

It’s been some time since I was at Gueros. Over the years we found the quality of food and service had declined to what you would expect in a touristy part of town. Our last visit really changed that perception. We had a party of 9 and could not have been more pleased with the service or food. Everything was hot and well prepared. Each meal was enjoyed and is now thankfully back in the restaurant rotation for our family.

Okay so I wanted to love this place. We got it on recommendation and it looked fantastic from the outside. We got seated quickly I had horrible service. We got the wait person who didn't care. Now I must say that I saw another fantastic waitperson who was really helpful and cheerful. But ours didn't bring me cream for my coffee until I'd asked her 3 times then never asked if we wanted refills on coffee or Coke and never came by to even ask how things were after the busboy delivered our food. You'd have to have really fantastic food to make up for shoddy service like this. And frankly the food wasn't that great. I got the Sunday special and was runny just not that great I'll give this place a C minus and it makes me sad to do that!
