Fancy ambience, pricey BBQ and portions are smaller than the average restaurant. We sat down and I ordered a "one meat and two sides." The meal tasted like expected from a restaurant in any major city in Texas with 4 star rating. Perfectly made brisket and I believe the sauce and mustard are home made. Kudos.
BUT....
The portions seemed more for post-pregnant mothers on a diet . You wouldn't be able to handle a hormone raged teenager or the average Texan for that matter.

Friendly host. Clean restaurant. Cool decor. Knowledgeable bartender. Banging grub. Superb and complex flavors and aromas. This place is always a pleasure to visit. Real cuisine. One of the best restaurants in Austin.

Great fries, good burgers. But one of my friends ordered the 2 meat plate. They must take their 2 meat literally. He got brisket and another item, and it came with 2 slices of brisket and one of that other item. For spending $$$ and only getting a couple pieces of meat is pretty ridiculous.
I probably won't go back.

Sat outside on the patio. Very nice. Had the buffalo ribs - the house specialty. Outstanding! My partner had the red fish with rice, also very tasty. Good service too. Not cheap. Dinner for 2 without drinks , dessert or appetizers was over $100.
But worth it.

This rating is based on a single thing: their Hangar Steak entree. Arguably the best cut of steak I've ever had.
Had fully intended on going with the Brisket here but literally seconds before ordering I was informed by another in my party that we'd be having Blacks for lunch the next day, so my Texas brisket fix was already allocated for. Flipped to the Hangar steak on a whim and was the best decision of the evening.
Further evidence of 5 stars for also having bottles of one my favorite craft beers anywhere: Lone Pint's Yellow Rose.
