I have been taking my whole family to Dr. Parker for about 14 years now. We have been through a myriad of insurance plans, and payment methods, in this difficult economy. I have always found his staff to be tactful, patient , and pleasant to deal with. I have been given good advice, and he has always offered to correct whatever dental problems we have had, or gave advice or offered a trustworthy referral for dental surgeries that were needed. I haven't always acted on the advice, but that's my choice, right?... and maybe I'll be sorry for that later; we'll see.
He is an excellent dentist, I trust his expertise, and I trust him to keep me informed of issues with my children as well. He has always been skillful in making sure I had enough anesthetic, because I am pretty sensitive to that.
It is his job as a professional to offer "teaching moments," and give advice on preventative dental health. Personally, I don't want to go to a health care professional who wont be straight with me, or who doesn't care enough about me to politely make me slightly uncomfortable with the truth.
Yes, he could just take my money and put band-aids over my problems, but he cares enough to take the risk of offending a patient, in hopes they will listen and avoid very expensive, and painful consequences down the road.
The other person who posted how offensive he was, must have a very, very, touchy self- esteem issue due to her teeth. Understandable that some outward health issues are quite embarassing, However, I know that he is more tactful than what was described in this previous post . I wasn't there, but I felt compelled to offer a balanced view point.
I am a health care provider as well, and I also care enough to look for some teachable moments with my patients. It is my hope, that I will get through to them , and help impact their life in a positive way. We are obliged to do that by the way, it is part of the hippocratic oath.
My advice is, if you want some one else to just put band aids on your problems, then go else where, and you will receive less care as well.
Its not fair to project one's insecurities and anger onto another (who dares to help you) , because you don't want to face the truth about your own self-neglect. We all have some self neglect in our lives, myself included, but I don't get angry with my doctors when they tell me to lose weight. They're doing their job, and Im glad for it.

I have moved around A LOT in my life meaning I have visited many dentists. Never been happy with any of them until I seen Dr. Parker. Amazing is all I can say. GREAT dentist. Even worth a drive. Terrific dental work and nice character.
However, as far as the hygienist goes..... not so nice with bed side manor AT ALL. She tends to make you feel very bad about yourself, continuously. No matter what the situation is that created a poor situation with your teeth.

A very caring and considerate staff. Doctor Parker was professional and kind and gentle. They were very organized and I didn't have to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes at the most. I would highly recommend Dr Parker.

Awful!!! Do NOT recommend!! Scheduled an appointment for a cleaning/exam, and asked if they could fill a cavity on my front tooth. I expressed to the receptionist, the assistant, hygienist and dentist that I had severe dental anxiety and was extremely anxious. I told them it took a lot for me to call, and actually come to the appointment.
Dr. Parker and his hygienist, Kate, berated me about the condition of my teeth, telling me how bad they were, how much work I caused myself and while they could fix some of the damage, I needed to "follow the rules" and only drink water, coffee with no sugar and tea with no sugar. When I told them that I knew my teeth were bad, and that is why I was there, and made/came to the appointment that I didn't want to because I was afraid of being treated EXACTLY like this, they said I must not have cared enough since I let it "get so bad". Funny enough, I saw a few of the employees with 20 oz of pop/soda.
I felt disrespected, embarrassed, self conscious, and downright awful. No one should have to go through that. Both the dentist and hygienist were very unprofessional and had awful bedside manner. They both cussed at me "You are not allowed to cancel this appointment, I'm booking you for an hour. I'll be pissed off if you cancel" (Dentist)
"I'll be really pissed off if you don't come to this appointment, it will take me at least 15 minutes to get the room ready for you!" (hygienist)
Horrible experience and when I called the office manager to complain after the shock wore off, she half-assed apologized, told me she'd "talk to them about re-wording how they talk to the patients" and then said "Wellll... you know, there's not too many dentists who take CareSource anyway.." Right. Since I'm poor and receive insurance for free, I should *totally* have to endure verbal abuse at the hands of a doctor who stood to make A LOT of money from me.
0 stars, Google made me choose a minimum of 1.
