Absolutely worth your time. You can run through it in 2 hrs. You need at least 3 to really experience it at its best.

A must see for Charleston history buffs! There were two exhibits closed when we went and the open exhibits were otherwise not super exciting. There is a kid's play area which is really great. I'll go back and reassess when those other exhibits open. There is a lot of really great history here though.

First of all, it's not a bad little museum. Neat things inside. But, I think they'd be better if they focused on the history of Charleston and surrounding areas... from pre-colonial, colonial (pirate Blackbeard actually did raiding here but never mentioned), post-revolution, civil war, WW1, 2... talk about the Navy yard, civil rights era... and then to today. They kind of do this, but then you walk around a corner after getting done with the civil war and there's a freakin polar bear missing a toe. Uh...OK?? And then there's a dinosaur beside him. And some stuffed birds... and then some Egyptian mummies. It's like a "show and tell" day at school, if your classmates had polar bears and mummies and dinosaurs. Just didn't make much sense and seems a wasted opportunity to preserve and teach about the low country.
