Hands down the best boat tour ever. We had a great volunteer that explained on the different buildings so wonderfully. If you have never been to Chicago the architecture boat tour is a must.

On this 3rd visit to Chicago we finally got to take this tour. We wanted to back in March, but the boats were not running yet. This tour is very good just for the views, even if you don't care about the history aspects. But if you enjoy a little history and architecture then you are doubling your fun! So key points in this review. First, make sure you take the "OFFICIAL" architecture river cruise. You will know by the price $38 per person at the time I typed this, and also by the all "3" branches of the river it cruises. We were on the Chicago First Lady and I must give a special "shout-out" to our guide "Matthew Defty" (class of 2000) for the outstanding job he does. You can here the passion in his voice for these magnificent architectural feats. The boats are full service, and in fact, i enjoyed a nice cold corona while on the cruise. Restrooms also available. They have tours almost every hour. Go to their website for more information and brochure. Thanks for reading!
Bring sunscreen (boats uncovered, but you can sit inside if you want, what fun is that though)
Try for early morning cruise in order to take the sunset into consideration (We went at 5PM)

This was very informative and well executed. Our guide & I am so sorry but I can't remember her name, and the captain Jorge were a great team. Our was well informed and enthusiastic! I would do this again! Totally worth the cost

An absolutely 'must do' on your trip to Chicago. This was recommended to us by my sister. To be honest I didn't really want to go. Neither of us are particularly interested in architecture. But we read that it is one of the top 10 tours in the United States. What a pleasant surprise it was. First off, it was a very enjoyable boat ride on the Chicago River. Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. Lots of very interesting historical information about the city of Chicago as well as architectural information. Well worth the money!

First rate experience. We lucked out and had great weather (just a little chilly). The views are awesome and our docent was great. She had an incredible amount of knowledge of the history and architecture of the city. If we get back to Chicago several years down the road, we'll definitely go again to see what's changed. Also, know that they are not allowed to accept tips and only encourage you to donate to the architecture foundation, so your ticket price is actually what you pay...not plus tip like many other tours.
