I truly wish I could provide a zero star rating for Colonial Life! This company has forever changed the way I view accident insurance and made me question why any of us should pay even one cent for the deceptive insurance coverage that will never pay out when you have a legitimate covered accident. Maybe its because we want to feel secure in the notion that there is a backup plan, just incase an accident occurs. But trust me, when that accident does occur, Colonial Life will be the first to stab you right in the back with deceptive policy guidelines, fraudulent levels of payouts based on insurance codes that you were never made aware of when you bought your policy, and blatant word games with medical definitions that will absolutely cause your accident claim to be denied, or covered at a lower rate! It is a truly disgusting process to witness! Angry and arrogant insurance adjusters with absolutely zero medical background deciding how your accident claim will be paid. Constant back and forth phone calls and faxing of documentation that will further exhaust your patience. Almost forcing you to just give up so they can avoid paying your accident claim. Never mind the fact that you have paid your premiums! It does not matter! Colonial Life will make it extremely difficult to pursue any payout!
My family had a horrible experience with Colonial Life recently, and our hope is that we can influence others to avoid this fraudulent company. To make a long story short, our son suffered an injury while running track at his school. His injury was diagnosed as a broken hip, and torn hip flexor, and he was placed on crutches for two months, while his orthopedic surgeons decided if surgery was the correct action. Fortunately, no surgery was required, however, our son was forced to endure repeat visits to the orthopedic office for follow ups, diagnostic medical imaging, and intensive physical therapy for well over eight weeks. Obviously it was not a simple or cheap injury to have sustained, and we were the ones paying for it. We thought that we would find some form of financial relief to help cover the medical bills in the accident insurance coverage that we had with Colonial Life, BUT WE WERE WRONG! Colonial Life took it upon themselves to pay out our son's injury at a minimal 25% of the fracture diagnosis payout, based on a word technicality that they had built into the policy without our knowledge. We fought continuously with Colonial Life, provided them with complete and true medical documentation that supported our son's diagnosis and proper payout amount, and even filed a fraud complaint with the Department of Insurance. It was exhausting! Definitely not worth the time and frustration spent on dealing with such an uncaring, and deceitful company! Again, never mind the fact that we had paid the Colonial Life premiums for the so called "accident insurance." Never the less, Colonial Life still chose to fraudulently under pay our son's legitimate accident claim. Definitely a lesson learned! Though our fight with Colonial Life is almost over now, our hope is that others can learn from our mistake in trusting such a deceitful company such as Colonial Life. It is a shame that we pay for insurance coverage with companies like Colonial Life to have some peace of mind for those unpredictable life events, only to be denied what is rightfully owed! Colonial Life should be ashamed of its fraudulent and deceptive business practice! Stay Away from this company...they only want to steal your money and do not care about their customers!!

I have been out of work since 12/3/16 do far I received 1 check. They don't care that I depend on this money and paid to carry their insurance. It doesn't take 2 months to review my claim. I'm so disappointed in Colonial.
