*As of May 2016 - Salsa Cabana is still CLOSED due to the flood back in October. We hope it returns although are hopes are dwindling.*
I am a member of the latin dancing community in Columbia, SC and frequently dance with professional and semi professional dancers in Columbia and Charlotte. I dance Salsa, Bachata, Latin Cha-Cha, and Kizomba, and frequently attend Salsa Congresses. Salsa Cabana does play some Salsa, but it plays the super popular songs like Vivir Mi Vida. They play some bachata, but again only the super popular ones like Royce. They play lots of Merengue, and no Cha-Cha, and no Kizomba/Semba/Zouk. The focus of this club is drinking and smoking. Yeah, it is fun to dance there but don't expect many quality dances from the attending demographic. This is a club that is Five Points style: drinking, dirty, smoky, loud music and disregarded in terms of maintenance. It's fun, it's a lot of fun, even if you're a good dancer. But treat it as it is - a late night, boozy, dirty latin club that you need to bring a friend with so that you feel safe. Go so you can dance some bachata/salsa in the early evening (11pm-12:30am) and so that you can drunkenly break it down to the Cupid Shuffle/Wobble and Reaggaeton after 1:00am. Don't expect it to satisfy a professional dancer's soul unless you're just looking to break it down club style for a night.

Too much smoking going on. Great music but would not go there again! They need better ventilation or no smoking at all!
