Been there twice. Worst experience ever. Was starved the first time, only 2 others in the restaurant, but it took an hour and a half for us to get our food after we ordered it. next time we went there we sat on the patio. They didn't give us any utensils when they brought our food and we had to wait 10 minutes to flag someone down. Food wasn't bad but the service could keep me from ever going back it was one of the worst experiences of my life in a restaurant. Twice now in 2 years they seemed to be waaaay understaffed. the server is horrific and the owner can be super rude.

Julia Blackbird serves what is probably the best New Mexican food in Denver. Not Mexican, mind you - New Mexican. Don't expect your typical "cheap and cheerful" burritos and enchiladas here. The flavors are sophisticated and subtle. The service is always prompt, and the dining room is inviting.
My only complaint is that the delicious posole is not a stand alone item on the menu.

Love the decor & patio area! The restaurant overall looks like it has a lot of potential! However, the service was very slow & waiter was clearly not trained. Baggy pants have to be a hazard for him, aside from the fact that it's unprofessional. And the food menu looks great but the flavor is non-existent or salty. We had high hopes from the appearance & were definitely disappointed. Someone needs to let Food Network know they should send out the guy from Restaurant Impossible to help them get their game back. Definitely won't be returning unless they make some big improvements.

Food was average and I would give it 3 starts but the owner, Julia, was our waitress and I would be too kind if I said her lack of a small smile was her worst trait. She needs some serious lessons in hospitality and friendliness. I read the reviews before we went and am glad we got that over with. It is such a cute area. What a shame.

Food & Staff were terrible. On a very slow Tuesday night, we ordered a couple buckets of beer twice. On each occasion, it took 30 minutes and multiple follow ups for them to be delivered. We waited an hour for our $10+ entres to arrive. Prior to receiving, I saw four plates being handled at a microwave. My chicken tacos seemed not an exception. I'm not sure whether to describe the shells as hard or soft... but I'm certain they had been cooked in a microwave. The chicken was unidentifiable. It appeared to be canned chicken though we weren't certain it wasn't canned tuna. This is no exaggeration.
Blame spreads across the board to management, cooks & service. This was a terrible dining experience. It's too bad. Between the perfect location & festive interior decor, it has so much potential. Unfortunately it failed on every front.
