Not a place for cats!!! I set up an account here bc my cat has a prescription diet, but she has a permanent vet back home. Rant first, summary below.

First, I have a very sweet cat, who I’ve never heard hiss in all her 2 years. She’s never scratched or bit anyone either. When she tore her claw out from falling off her cat tower, I took kitty here. I called ahead and they saw her immediately (alerting me of a $110 emergency fee, which was fine). They sat me in a room as they checked on "him" and made sure "he" was stable. All I heard was gossiping and laughing girls while I was extremely distressed. The doctor explained that she bandaged her paw (for 5 days) and gave her a pain shot. I felt confident in the doctor’s assessment.

Kitty and I went home and the bandage came off within 30 min. I called again and took her back. Not a one of their three receptionists acknowledged me or looked at me when I walked in. They said that they would rewrap "him" and took her back. Of course, she was reasonably upset, having been hurt then taken to a brand new vet twice in one day. The only thing the staff could say about my cat (other than calling her "him" repeatedly) was that she was grumpy. Absolutely no sympathy or kind words, considering the whole ordeal. Kitty and I went home and she got this bandage off in a couple of hours, tearing out a great deal of fur in the process. I also noted that her eye looked watery and gooey, which I hadn’t seen before (it could have been an eye boogie, but given how much they complained about her being grumpy, I think she may have gotten a stiff poke in the eye).

I called again and asked if I could get an antibiotic because I wasn't going to get her rebandaged a third time. They told me that they would prefer to put her in a cone prior to putting her on abx since abx can't be returned. Since I worked the next two days in a row, I didn’t have time to wait and see if the cone worked. Also, my primary concern was her getting into the litter box and her paw getting infected, not her licking her hurt paw. As it was 15 minutes before they closed, I told them I was coming over to pick up the abx that they would prescribe me, mama bear style. I got there and they were surprised that "he" got out of "his" second bandage. I asked the girl at the front desk a question and she said "I don't know, I just take the money." When the tech came back to educate me on how to give the abx, she was very disdainful and seemed unsure that I could give the med because “you know how cats are…” I collected my goodies and left. I won’t be returning.

In Summary:

1. This place, as is typical of Denver, is NOT cat friendly. None of the staff here seemed to like or care about cats. I went here THREE TIMES in one day and each time they called her a “he”!! She is a CALICO, a cat that is pretty exclusively female. The fact that they didn’t take the two seconds to look at the patient info in front of them is appalling.
2. All they saw when I walked in was $$$. I’m not saying they misdiagnosed her, ran extra tests or even that they are unreasonably priced. I appreciate that they tried to be up front about the pricing. However, they place quite an emphasis on money here. I still can’t believe that they wouldn’t prescribe me abx because I can’t return it.
3. They are not sensitive to their clients’ needs. I absolutely want to go to a vet that has a friendly work environment. However, as the exam room that I waited in was connected to the larger “back room”, I felt like I was in a fishbowl. I could hear all the gossip, all the laughter, and all of my cat’s yowling (perhaps some background music could help here?). The staff should consider that not everyone is there for a well visit, and keep their voices down.
4. I don’t doubt that they have capable doctors and staff here, but it felt like an urgent care clinic where you get in, get out, and pay the bill. This isn’t a place where I felt they want to get to know your pet, esp if that pet is a cat.

Sorry for abbrev... #wordcountprobs

My first visit was today I took my best friend Kiba to get checked after getting a horrible gash under his eye. All the staff was so friendly and treated my pets so well. I was expecting things to be far more expensive but everything was reasonably priced. They even gave me a complementary bottle of wine for choosing them. I would recommend them to anyone I know that has an animal. I know I’ll be sticking with them definitely for anything my pups may need in the future!

If you go to this Vet, do not go to Dr. Pradhan. In her ignorance and spineless robotic reaction, she doomed my sweet 8 week old lab puppy to 6 months of quarantine prison with the state for, I do not lie or exaggerate, picking up a year old dead bat carcass for 3 seconds. The bat carcass was so old, there was no material left in it to even test for the rabies virus. In spite of this and the indisputable scientific fact that the rabies virus can't survive outside of its living host for more than 24 hours ... she reported my lab puppy to the State animal control folks who showed up at my house to quarantine him in a state cage for 6 MONTHS! When I contacted Dr. Pradhan to tell her what she had unleashed and hoping for her help to unwind this insane reaction by the state, she robotically expressed that she couldn't over rule the wisdom of the system. SHAMEFUL

I just moved to Denver from out of state and my dog had diarrhea and was vomiting so I called around trying to get an appointment anywhere, ASAP. Ended up at VCA. They were very kind, clean, and communicative. It honestly was the best experience I've had at the vet. They did not make me feel rushed, they spent time asking the right questions, etc. Also, just in case you didn't know, there are some specials if you're new to VCA, you just have to ask! I ended up getting a free first visit exam and then a free bottle of pinot noir - something much needed after how worried I've been for my pup!

This is an awesome veterinary clinic with great prices. Vet bills can get out of hand quickly, but the VCA works with you and your budget to make sure your animal is getting the care it needs without you going bankrupt. Throughout a ridiculous, years-long process of my dog starting to experience severe allergies, giving herself skin infections as a result of all the scratching, and all the hassle that comes with identifying the cause, this place was patient and awesome.

Bottom line: everyone here, from the intake staff to the vet techs to the vets themselves, are wonderful to work with. I have recommended them to several friends and everyone has been equally as pleased.
