Mercy Medical Center - Emergency Department

After dislocating my hip this Summer, I immediately went to the Mercy Downtown ER. I was immediately taken into the emergency room to see a doctor - I was given priority due to the seriousness of the injury.

The doctor talked to me before I even made it into the actual room and with just a few words to the nurses, they got me comfortable in a matter of minutes. I trained as an ER tech some time ago & volunteered at Methodist, Lutheran, & Broadlawns. I also attended Graduate School for some 4 years not too many years ago, so I have encountered a lot of doctors in my day. The doctor that received me at Mercy was a model physician; one that many will strive for, yet never achieve. It was clear he had a lot of ER experience and was well established within the ER as a leader of an efficient team.

For comparison, I watched a man fall to the ground having a heart-attack at the Lutheran ER & didn't witness near the tight-knit team reaction that helped me at Mercy for a hip dislocation. It takes a lot of courage to do ER work - I ultimately chose not to... I'm glad that the staff at Mercy, particularly the leading physician (I can't remember his name, but his face is burned into my memory forever), has the courage for ER work to the point where they operate as if by instinct. A dislocated hip sucks....a lot... But if something truly serious goes down, I will certainly put my trust in Mercy.

Whichever doctor was working evenings in the ER this Summer, around the July 4th holiday (2017), thank you! For hospital administrators, please give this man an award or commemorative coin or whatever it is you do; maybe a nice, simple pat on the back would suffice.

Sat there in oain for 6 hours before seen by doctor terrible place go anywhere else one star is to many

Knowledgable doctors, caring staff, good experience except what we were in there for!

I wish i could give lower than a 1! I have been here for five and a half hours and havent even seen a doctor yet! This er is a joke! Nobody should ever come here and have to go through this!

Emergency room is a joke. My fiancé hit her head and is bleeding badly. The "nurse" that took down her info didn't even look at the wound! My fiancé is still bleeding and it's OVER 3 hours waiting and and we still have not been seen by a doctor!!
