The prices were high and the portions were small. The food was good. But not as good as the price tag suggested.

Amazing BBQ! Had the pulled pork sandwich and the Caribbean jerk chicken with the taco set up. And I had it to go. People were friendly and food was still hot when I got it home.

Our party of four arrived at 130 today. There were two girls running the entire restaurant. We waited twenty minutes for our first drink. Never received things we asked for. Finally got our food at 250. Not one time did we see a manager. Not spending my money on a restaurant that won't spend the money to properly staff and manage their own restaurant

Very delicious food. The chef is very intentional with what goes into the food and it shows in presentation and flavor. I tried the jerk chicken and I was surprised that the flavor ran all the way through which many places that try to serve jerked chicken miss. The slaw had a great balance of sweet and tart. The mac and cheese was very creamy. The ingredients with the nachos were well paired. I look forward to trying Guru BBQ again.

Amazing place to get some food in Downtown Des Moines. I had the Brisket Sandwich and it was tender, flavorful, and wasn't the least bit dry. Wait for food was minimal and our server was very well mannered and quick. The atmosphere was also quite pleasant and felt very much 21st century. Would definitely go again.
