Delicious bbq spot that hasn’t lost its quality control. Many times small BBQ spots grow into giant places that then lose the quality and taste that made them so popular in the first place. Uncle Wendell’s always puts out fantastic tastes, from from the meats to the baked goods to their own special bbq sauce. Their Shocker Sauce is the best bbq sauce in town! Not the best place to dress up and take your grandma, but that’s okay, it’s perfect for you and your friends.

I love trying unique local restaurants; however, this one didnt live up to its reviews. Its customer service was meh, food was average, and prices were a little high for you get. Wouldnt avoid it in the future but definitely wouldnt recommend it to friends either.

On Saturday night, they sell a short rib special that is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Both the ribs and short ribs were wonderfully toothsome in consistency and did NOT fall off the bone. I cut the short ribs with a PLASTIC KNIFE with no problem at all. Pulled pork and brisket are amazing and their sauce rides the line between sweet and tangy with fantastic precision. EAT HERE!

This place has fast, great BBQ. The fire and ice cucumbers are awesome! The meet is tender with little fat. One of my top 3 BBQ favorites in Des Moines!
