A rather small salad bar--$5.25 WITH dinner. Way too high. Had a grilled chicken sandwich and fries. Sandwich very small--but OK taste. Fries barely cooked--not good. Very sorry to see the Hilltop has gone down so much. Suspect it will be gone at some near point. Very sad for a great westside eatery.

Historical building, has been a main-stay West side restaurant and bar for decades. Good old fashioned food, always packed. Expect long waiting time for table.

Could not bring myself to try the brain sandwich or even the brain slider, but they did have good chicken livers and my husband liked the gizzards. Their German potato salad is mustard based as opposed to the vinegar based salad I grew up with, but the mustard flavor was mild. Very casual atmosphere. We'll go back next time we're in Evansville.

Have frequented the Hilltop a few times during the week, while under new management. The service was quick and the food was delicious. A large group of us went on a Friday night about a week ago and the service was slow, the fried chicken was dry, several of us did not care for the fried fish (liked the old recipe better), but the chicken tenders and milk gravy were very good good!
