We have had a good experience in the emergency room department. My daughter has recurrent croup and at times, has severe troubles breathing. They treat her quickly and effectively in the emergency room. The night shift doctor has always been warm and kind. The hospital is clean. Thank you for your quality care.

Been in a few times, in a 6 month period trying to get to the bottom of health problems really sick. The Docs seem very book smart however they cannot critically think anymore. finally called my old Doc got a z-pac in two days i was a lot better. They keep saying same old, your white count is norm. Also my son was very sick few years ago, same thing low white count brought him in a couple times there, one Doc suggested he see a shrink, he was seven at the time. I had brought him into st vincent's, you no as a parent when something's wrong!! His appendix had been ruptured, still norm white count. An analogy, paint by the numbers or can you truly paint..

I would never reccomend to anyone that they go here for treatment. I suffer from anxiety & panic attacks. There was an issue with my family doctor where one of my medications didnt get refilled. I have had repeatedly bad panic issues for the past week and have ended up at St Mary's ER. This last visit I was greeted by an extremely rude nurse who got on my case wanting to know why I was in a wheelchair (my panic attacks are that bad that I have trouble walking). Then that same nurse sarcastically asked me what I expected them to do for me. My heart rate was 139 (comes with panic attacks). 5 minutes later a PA comes in and said they wouldnt prescribe me anything and told me to call the crisis center which is ridiculous since they don't prescribe medication. Total lack of empathy towards my wife & I. I am certainly switching from Prevea to Bellin. Would not advise anyone to go to St Mary's. Unless I am visiting family or friends I will never step foot into that hospital.

I delivered my son here and had to have an emergency c-section. Since it was an emergency I had to be put completely under. Later that day the delivering doctor came to tell me why and I literally fell asleep while he was talking to me and don't remember a thing he said because I was still pretty out of it. The story I got from what they told my family is that the placenta detached and they had to act quickly. I had asked my doctor multiple times after he was born if they could read to me exactly what the treatment notes said but they always said they would tell me next time.
Years later now that I am having my second baby (with a different, much better doctor in Appleton), she pulled my record and read to me exactly what happened that day.
What actually happened is that I had a Tetanic contraction (a contraction that doesn't stop), which could have been alleviated through positioning or medication in an IV (which they had already stuck me with by this point), and it caused my son's heart rate to drop in the 60's. Yes that's low but not life or death, it's common in labor, and if doctor's performed c-sections on every baby who's heart rate dropped like this, all of them would be c-sections. They tried pushing on my belly for 3 minutes and decided to pull the plug and did an emergency c-section, of which I now have a lovely vertical incision right up to my belly button, yet they did a horizontal incision on my uterus. When I woke up an hour and a half later in recovery the nurse handed me a PICTURE of my newborn son and said, "Here's your baby."
When they brought me back to my room there were literally 20 of my family and friends standing in my room staring at me, (which was bad on my ex-husbands part). They handed me my son to hold for the first time (who I've already seen in a picture remember). And I got to hold him for a whopping 2 minutes before my ex-husband took him from me and passed him around to the rest of the family to hold.
So my placenta never detached and I had a horrible experience from top to bottom because the doctor was either completely in-experienced or took advantage of our ignorance so it could be done and over with. And then to let me believe all these years that it was because of a reason that wasn't even true.
