From the moment you back into your parking space across the street from 608 N. Second Street, this warm red-brick edifice with lights shining brightly from it's big front window will draw you in, fill you with hope that you have truly discovered an artistic bastion in Harrisburg. And you have.
Last night, Gallery at Second featured works of gallery owner Ted Walke, and gallery-represented artist Thom Glace. The show was well-attended. Mr. Walke and Mr. Glace were thoroughly accessible and gracious, providing so much insight into their work and just generally creating a welcoming, enjoyable environment. Tasteful, just-right live music perfected last night's ambience.
The gallery space is two floors of well-lit, partitioned areas, which facilitate an intimate viewing experience. In addition to the featured fish paintings last night, the gallery's full range of beautiful works, from abstracts to realistic figuratives, was available for discovery. In addition to being thoroughly in awe of Walke's and Glace's fish renderings, this viewer also especially enjoyed some of local artist Mark Topp's realistic figurative portrayals of Harrisburg, PA subjects.
