I like the physician, Joseph Mitchell, and the staff person, Nicole, at his office in Stafford Springs, but the rest of the operation centered in West Hartford gets a near zero. Getting my prescriptions refilled has been a hassle every time. Often, as in just now, even getting to the auto answer is hard. It is mid morning, and the answer states their office hours, but even when it is within those hours, says to send an email. When you do get through, nothing seems to happen. Whether they are way under staffed, incompetent, or just don't care is irrelevant. What does matter is that their vast lack of responsiveness endangers their patients' health. Many physicians' offices are pretty poorly run, but this one sets a new standard for shoddy.

Terrible. Waited over a week for results of nuclear stress test as they said they would call me within a few days. after 2 weeks I called to get the results ! And , before the procedure, I asked what my cost would be as I have a high deductible. After a few days, they called and left a voice-mail saying it was fully covered and there would be no cost to me. Over a month and a half later I received a bill for $ 1650.00. !!!! And this is after I played the voice-mail for them over the phone. That was over 2 months ago, still getting bills and called again to dispute the bill, they said still looking into it. This week I called to get an appointment because some prescription refills expired from my primary care physician and since my chest has been tight lately and blood sugar is high. figured they would write prescriptions. Nope. They won't do anything for high blood sugar , said its the pcp's responsibility. This is health-care???

The Docs are pretty good especially Knox BUT!!!!! this practice is by far the worst example of Dr. patient communication in existance. I have been waiting for results of a nuclear stress test for 8 days and after placing repeated daily calls and being put on terminal hold over and over, they are telling me what I have been hearing every day. " The results are not ready yet, maybe tomorrow". They are aware that I need to schedule cancer surgury pending the test results but that seems to be a non- issue for them. I have been told by members of the nursing staff at St. Francis Hospital who have to remain anonymous that this group is notorius for keeping patients in the dark. Either they have no regard for patient's mental well being or they are rudely inconsiderate beyond belief. BEWARE !!!!
