My family and I decided we wanted to try someplace new in town and we saw Arturo's and thought, "why not?" The outside looks as good as it can get considering the location in Hemet and we all liked the stain glass windows.
When we walked in a young man immediately sat us in a booth and seeing that we have a small toddler asked if we needed a booster seat and promptly brought it over after I said yes. The clip on the belt was broken, but since our son is big enough now that he doesn't really need the belt I didn't ask for a different one and based on the young man's cheerful attitude during the whole visit I'm sure he would have apologized and brought a different one right away.
After we were settled in I noticed the authentic Mexican music softly playing in the background. The menu options were typical for a Mexican restaurant and the prices were very reasonable. My wife ordered the shrimp cocktail, I ordered a top sirloin (medium well) which came with a choice of corn or flour tortillas and rice & beans and a choice of soup or salad. We also ordered an extra side of Rice & Beans for the kids to share.
At some point between ordering and getting our food the music changed from Mexican to Elevator style music. The food arrived quickly and the sirloin came out last as expected. My wife asked me to pass her the ketchup and when I grabbed it from the condiment tray at the end of the table i realized just as I was handing it to her that it had something sticky all over the back. She quickly handed it back to me and I opened it and the ketchup in the top was dried out and dark brown. It looked as though it had been years since the bottle had been opened. My wife asked the young man for a new bottle and he promptly brought one and apologized.
When my food arrived I was very satisfied with the portion sizes and I did not expect onions to be on my steak. I immediately smelled something strange and thought that it was just the onions so I pushed them off to the side. I took a bite of the steak and then realized that it was not the onions it was the meat. I smelled it and thought it was going to make me sick. Giving up on the steak I moved on to try the rice & beans. The rice was over cooked and the beans were almost completely flavorless. The tortillas and the Horchata were good so I stuffed a tortilla full of rice and beans dumped some Tapatio on it and it was good enough to eat, but I was not satisfied.
I'm sure most of you are thinking something like, "why didn't you send the food back and get something else?" I don't even know why, I just wanted to go. After my wife and kids were done we asked for the check, paid, and left.
After we got in the car I asked my wife if she had the choice to give them a gold star would she and she said yes. I then asked our 6 year old and she wasn't sure so I asked her some clarifying questions as follows. I asked if she liked the people who served us, and she said, "yes." I asked if she liked the music and she said, "yes." I asked if she liked the way the restaurant looked and she said, "yes." I then asked if she liked the food and she said, "I just liked the rice." I then asked again if she would give them a gold star and she said yes. Lastly I asked our toddler if he would give them a gold star and he shook his head, "no." I personally wouldn't give them a gold star, so we give Arturo's Grill two stars and will probably never go back again.

Super food. Have been going for years; started back at his Harvard location. Arturo is so nice and friendly. Treats us like family.
