Shuttle picked me up at the pier, lady at the counter was super friendly and efficient. She offered me an upgrade to a bigger car since I arranged for a toddler seat. I must admit, I've always received wonderful service from all National Car Rental offices in Hawaii. Mahalo!

I joined the Emerald Club to get a few benefits of renting cars. An email came in stating that my car was ready and to go to the Emerald Club window and pick up my rental agreement and my keys. I waited for 5 minutes and there was only 1 employee that was working. So I waited in the regular line for another 10 minutes. When I got to the window, the employee stated that they need to locate a car for me and to wait in the area. Another 10 minutes went by waiting in the hot sun. I finally received my car, which looked to be my free upgrade, a Nissam Maxima.
I purposely took a flight at that time as my appointment was not until 11:30 am. I reached the booth at 10:45am and didn't leave til 11:15 am which made me late for my meeting.

Hilo definitely needs more vehicle selection. Three other people while I was there, asked for SUV or 4x4. The car I was given ran well, but seats were stained, dirty old car.

The staff at the Hilo airport location were great! I really liked the free upgrade to the BMW X3!

I rented three times while vacationing on Hawaiian Islands. Each time, my experience was excellent. I specifically reserved a minivan in Honolulu and was very pleased that they had two to choose from. I enjoy the benefits of Emerald Club membership and picking my car from the aisle, or automatically getting an upgrade if renting from a small location with no aisle service. The cars were clean and in good repair.
