Tantalus Lookout

Such a short drive from anywhere near the south side of O'ahu Hawaii.
I left our housing rental from Hawaii Kai area about 30 min. until sunset.

It was a little hard to find on maps. I stopped once off the road thinking it was the location with such spectacular views and lots of cars– but it wasn't. Keep going up the road and you'll see National Parks style signs.

Parking was packed near the lookout. But just around the corner towards the entrance was empty parking and a nice and easy flat walk along a wide groomed grass trail between the trees and bright green foliage.

Highly recommend just before sunset as the sun sets over Pearl Harbor.
Visiting Diamond Head Crater, Waikiki or Honolulu? This view is a must.

Awesome view of the entire Honolulu/Waikiki area. Go all the way to the top, don't be tempted to stop at one of the pullouts on the way up.

This is a great place to walk, relax or take in the views. Bring some drinks and a blanket. Well worth the short drive up or a long hike off the road.

It's a fabulous drive up here with great views along the way. You can see Waikiki and almost the entire coast line from up here.
When I came here it was really quite and not crowded at all. I can fully recommend it.

Great views of Waikiki from this spot. The road up is winding with blind spots along the way, but well worth it. Perfect if you want to see sunset over downtown Honolulu and Diamond Head.
