I'm a huge fan for more than 10 years and last night happened! The waiter/bartender asked if I wanted to open or close my tab. I asked to close it. This was around 10:45 pm. Then I walk up the bar to ask for my tab ... wanting to add a good tip, but the same guy said it's closed out. I leave thinking that's new ... come to find out this morning I check my email and this guy signed and allocated gratitude without my permission. I tried to deal with it privately through a review they sent and their reply was the following: It's not Marfreless intention to make you unhappy but when a tab is started it has to be closed out to close the days business or it holds everything up so 99% of the time we close tabs with 15% gratuity with that being said for the future we can not add tip in but still have to close open tabs buy liquor laws.
WE CAN NOT ADD TIP ... really? I would never leave Marfreless without taking care of those who give great service and cocktails. What happened Marfreless? Where has the attention to detail gone? Let's make it worth anyone's time by respecting the right to choose the amount of gratitude and sign on their own ... stop forging signatures!!!! It was done more than once the same night!!!!

Enjoy getting to know your first date with the ambient music in the background . it's a very seductive place! Great spot to begin your night for sure. Upstaris is cozy.....go check it out. Ill expect a thank you.

The bar tenders are awesone. The doorman with the English accent is absolutely horrible. I live half a block away and don't ever go there because he is literally that bad. He's totally full of himself. He talks like hes a billionaire entrepreneur, but billionaire's don't work as doormend at bars.

THEN I ASKED FOR A CLUB SODA AND THE BARTENDER TOLD ME THAT WILL BE $5, ARE YOU JOKING????? WATER IS FREE- EVEN CLUB SODA IN ALL OTHER BARS I HAVE BEEN TO!
