I felt compelled to write a review after seeing the previous two negative reviews here. We have been a client for nearly five years and have nothing but positive things to say about the care our dog has received at RVAC. The client service is impeccable; the staff is friendly and extremely helpful. While not the least expensive vet in the area, you get what you pay for - caring staff and excellent care.

THIS PLACE IS AWFUL.
Do NOT come here if you're a new pet owner, do your research on the internet or with a different vetenarian first--- this practice is not being run in a fair way and the prices they charge are borderline offensive to anyone who knows anything about the sector.

If your animal is healthy-- DO NOT COME HERE. If your animal is NOT healthy, I suggest you compare the vets nearby to this one and the treatment plans they recommend--you'll quickly find Rice Village Anim Hospital is charging 100-250% more than your typical vet. You'll find that other veternarians talk to you longer during your appointment and constantly check your understanding; they'll answer your questions more thoroughly and honestly-- a real vet is not looking to rush you out the door because you paid your $70 for the visitation fee. For example, one appointment lasted 4 total minutes with the veternarian, about 15 minutes waiting and the tech walking around the room...

If you come into your appointment with knowledge about the answers to your 'questions' you will see what I mean. Simply ask a few questions you know the answer to and see if the vet or staff here answer it honestly. Do they skate around the question and beat around the bush to get you to spend more? Yep...

Other animal clinics would let you talk to the veterinarian on the phone for a very reasonable five minutes if you'd just come in for an expensive visit and had a question without paying extra (are you joking me rice village animal hospital?). I suppose I expected that from the West U wealthy area 's vet where you can tell an 65 year old lady and her cat whatever you want because she has no knowledge of biology or other option because they don't know any better.

I have no issue with most of the people who work here, in fact there's one staff member thats mentioned in many reviews on google and yelp (you can figure out who she is)---my issue is with the administrators and manager, namely the lead one who has no idea what she's doing.

Many other vets in Houston are great! This is not one of them. I suggest you look on google for other places.

Notice how their reviews on Yelp are much lower and in some cases they have been edited. You'll find the owner or hospital administrator reaches out to people only AFTER they've written them a bad review on the internet...and they're scared it may affect future customers. Let me know if you have any questions about the clinic or need a recommendation for a better vet and I'll give you an honest answer.

*UPDATED*: The 'owner' or perhaps terrible manager named Adrienne has responded and said that they have no record of me as a client to try and discredit this review that I've written.. So I guess they want to play that game. I will not be coming back to your establishment and giving you a single penny but I assure you I've been there plenty of times and can give an honest opinion. This is the vet with separate waiting areas for cats and dogs, dogs on the left side. They have their own overpriced pharmacy they try and get you to buy from--just go to walgreens or your local petsmart instead. This place is untrustworthy--I'll definitely be letting any of my friends getting a pet know this as well--it's not a good way to start a long journey with an animal being tied to this terribly run business.

To be honest why in the world would I write a review this lengthy and long if it were a made up story? This is a terribly managed business with an awful head administrator. It's not something I would waste my time to write a review on unless it's something i felt honestly. I've certainly visited your 'clinic' many times and it was an experience i felt the need to tell other Houstonians about.

AWFUL. Visited them months ago and finally got around to writing a review.

Their only concern is figuring out how much you know about animals/petcare and then taking advantage of you at every corner. God forbid you're a first time pet owner and you stumble upon this trap.

I pretended to be a first time pet owner here a couple months ago and their recommendations are absolutely laughable. They want you to buy the most expensive meds from them and tell you scary stories if you press the weak parts of their arguments. This isn't my first rodeo---this place is designed to trick loving pet owners in a wealthy West University area near the Rice Village. Call any vet in Houston for the same drug/treatment and you'll never return to this location due to their crazy markup. Do NOT come here with a healthy animal or if you are a first time pet owner looking for communication and answers from your vet. Instead of coming here visit your local shelter to get shots/preventatives that are exactly the same. Hell, you can even buy name brand at any vet and it'll be cheaper than this place.

If you know what you're doing (experienced pet owner) then you're not coming here anyway...imagine having to throw Rice Village into a business name to capitalize on the nearby University's clout...it screams desperation.

You can tell they've probably been involved with legal trouble in the past as senior staff is very careful with their words if you ask them educated questions about treatment or medication. It's very disgusting the way they 'sell' you on things--attempting to scare you with anecdotal stories of random pets while not revealing the possibility that perhaps theres a 1% chance the booster/treatment would be useful for your healthy animal. I have a friend who didn't know anything about dogs but really wanted to take care of her animal---they prey on people like this---the fact is they're overcharging poor old ladies and wealthy families from West U.

You can tell from google and yelp that many negative reviews have been reviewed or modified, for me, that's a HUGE RED FLAG. If Rice Village Animal Hospital provided the reviewer a good experience to begin with then they wouldn't have had to reach out to yelp to get reviews deleted or to followup with the yelp reviewer to beg them to change the review. Only when the admin discovers it may damage their reputation do they look to solve the issue. Just gross in my book when you're leveraging the health of an animal for money and have to get reviews taken down.

Lets top it off with the fact their hospital administrator was rude and threatening, but the logic they used was hardly intimidating. It felt like I was talking to a large cornered child, if I'm being honest. Not sure who she is or where she gets off...she feels like she's in a position of real power I suppose...conning these nice older ladies in Houston who cannot use Google/computer takes a really powerful person, right? Humans should be better than this; I'm baffled she's still allowed to be the 'face' of this vet hospital. It doesn't take a lot of work to convince old ladies to buy 10 years of name brand pharmaceutical products when they could save almost 100% by going generic.

There are plenty of great vets in Houston who will be honest with you and make owning a pet a great experience. This Rice Village Animal Hospital location is a clear cash grab and frankly an insult if you've ever been a pet owner before.

Oh and forget any sort of followup or communication concerning your cat or dog (email, phone call) from anyone beyond a select few at the front desk. If you need to make your random checkup visit that you don't need' for $70, however they'll spam you endlessly. Thanks for all the spam mail about your useless big pharma products as well.

Not the type of thing you're looking for if you love your animal and they're in need of treatment for a serious issue.

These guys are the friggin best. Incredibly nice and incredibly adept, they know their stuff and I could not recommend them enough. Treats for your dog and cat, varied, are ready upon your arrival and departure. Affordable prices and honest people.

Fantastic vet! They maintain a happy and friendly atmosphere. They always remember me and my pets.

Any questions I may have they are happy to answer over the phone or through email.
