My son had his tonsils removed there and I can not say enough good things about the staff there. He was treated like a little king! They were constantly checking on him and making sure he was comfortable. The nurses were very gentle and kind with him. I had no troubles at all with billing or anything like that.

I had two procedures on separate days at the Surgery Center. Both were under my colon-rectal surgeon, Dr. Nuessle. My overall impression was positive; however, there are many things that could be improved for Patient Care.

The Good

• Attentive and Friendly Customer Service Personnel

• Super-caring Nurses and Surgical Attendants

• Efficient procedures once patients finally got processed

• No problems with Anesthesia or Drug Reactions

• Quick Recovery

Not So Good

• Parking limited with no visible overflow

• Little external signage--we wound up in the Eye Patient Clinic at first for my colonoscopy and hemorrhoid surgery

• Cold waiting room and still colder surgery waiting room; family comfort didn’t seem to be a concern

• Inadequate recovery instructions.

My second visit was hemorrhoid surgery. Essentially, you have a surgically induced wound. No explanation was given on how to deal with the aftermath. What pads should I use? How often should they be replaced? How do I know if my situation just got critical? When should I call the doctor? When should I go back to the ER? What should I expect on bowel movements? How long will I be sore?

Essentially, I was given a very, very limited game plan.
I would have appreciated some documentation stating this is what a normal recovery was and what to monitor for signs of trouble.

Would I return and would I recommend this to others?
Yes, but I wanted to express my thought before my next visit

As a patient of many laparoscopic procedures in my adult life, this is my first one at The Surgery Center in Huntsville, and was the best experience I've ever had in health care. From the moment I walked in, I felt comfortable (I'm always a bit anvious before a procedure) but soon eased the anxiety and felt the passion of care before and after the procedure then throughout the extended stay. They are the definition of professionalism, yet taking time to laugh with me, always attended with my needs promptly. From admission to discharge I knew they sencerely were concerned with my comfort and for healing. I wish I could remember all the names to mention, those names I do remember, I like to say thank you, Katherine, Rhonda, Kim, Teri and Sheila come to mind as a few of "my persons". If I ever have a lap procedure again, I will ask for it here! Too bad there is a ten star rating.

From the time I entered the building, I was treated with professionalism and kindness. The procedure before mine took longer than expected, and a nurse checked on me several times while I was waiting to make sure I was okay. I appreciate the service received and will not hesitate to use this facility again!

My son recently had surgery here. Upon check in, we found out we had a $100 copay. I had surgery myself at Huntsville Hospital the week before. I did not have $100 nor was I notified that we were going to have to pay $100. They will not bill you or make payment arrangements. We were told that my son could not have his surgery until we paid the $100. I wound up calling a family member who put it on his credit card. Be forwarned, you will pay in advance or you will not have surgery here!!
