I'd love to this place give 5 stars, but I feel I need to detract 1 star due to the facility being a bit run down and dark. I think that detracts from the experience. The food and staff make up for it. A great family run restaurant, and great to bring the family too. I think the Chili Colorado is second to none and that's usually what I'm buying. (And at $9.95 it's a good meal for a good price.) I love their salsa too. It's spicy and not watery (like all tomato juices).
After recently visiting some of the other Mexican food establishments in the area, I just had to come back and rave even more about Chapala. They've kept their prices down. The food comes out hot (which was not my experience recently at another local establishment.) And the food is just better.

El Chapala is IMO the best Mexican restaurant in the Tri-Cities, I find it interesting that this restaurant isn't as expensive as some of the other Mexican restaurants in town yet the quality of El Chapala's food is far better than some of the other Mexican restaurants, plus their margaritas are to die for! Plus the waitstaff always remembers the regulars.

The food was sub par but passable. It was crowded with furniture and hard to move around. The service was excellent.
