It's a church that's really not a church, which is ackwardly interesting. There's a sense of disorganization and revolt against traditional church. The group mainly consist of college students, homeless people and thirty-somethings that still want to be in their twenties. This is not a family friendly church. The kids are roped off in the back of the theatre and then sent to a room, where the ones watching them are in question.
I like how the church has a way of accepting all people, without shame. However, there is absolutly no discipleship or Biblical teaching for the people. There's never an offer to acecpt Christ or deliverance from pet sins. I'm a pretty open-minded person but church is a place to recharge and gain a closer walk with God not the chaos of the world. While sitting at the Bijou, watching the pastor and others throw down on traditional church and witnessing undiciplined members, who are still hungover from Saturday night is just not right. The central message is being lost, looking for direction. OK. I get that, but move on, learn from past mistakes and get the direction needed instead of creating teachings that caters to pet sins. People need encounters with God through authentic worship not a wanna be folk/rock concert. The time allocated for worship is more of a concert, with secular songs and coffee sipping.
Overall, the church is more of a social gathering for yuppie downtown residents, college students and homeless people neeeding a place to get free coffee and facilities (which is OK). If you want to attend a church service that makes you feel scruffy and lost in high volume off-key secular music and teachings that's nothing more than ramblings about everything but Biblical teachings, then KnoxLife is for you.
