Nama sushi is a good place for people who don’t know what sushi actually tastes like. Their sushi is drowned in sauce. Last time I tried their sushi it fell apart and could not be picked up. Had to scoop it with a spoon. I highly recommend East Japanese. Best sushi place in Knoxville.

Food was good. Took a long time to get it though. I had some sushi rolls and my friend had some hot dish with noodles and shrimp. Would go back, but not if in a hurry. Server, Avery, was great.

My wife and I came to Nama for dinner this weekend, we had never tried it and were pleasantly surprised. Our server, her name was Sophie I believe, was very pleasant and extremely willing to help us through the menu. We started with the crab dip and even though it was simple we couldn't get enough. The server recommended some of their signature cocktails, I had a bourbon tea, which I probably wouldn't have again, and my wife had the blood orange margarita which we both loved.
Our server recommended a few rolls to us that are apparently popular and then explained the chef's platter to us, which is a platter of sushi the chefs make up on the spot based on what the diner loves or hates. Of course that's what we ordered. The platter was presented beautifully and tasted exceptional. Sophie checked in on us every now and then to make sure our meal was good and drinks full.
All in all, the service was wonderful from the smiling hostess when we walked in to our helpful server, the food was amazing but took more time to prepare than we would have liked. But we will definitely be back.

The tables were dirty today. The drinks bottomed out for a long time. The sushi... which we got the Chef Platter... was not up to par by any stretch, I have had far better and cheaper sushi from the Fresh Market and even Kroger. This was the Kingston Pike Restaurant, not downtown. Downtown has never let me down, that Nama is far superior to what I experienced today. Some people care and others just don't I guess. OWN your work people... I'd say the servers downtown are tipped way higher.

My boyfriend and I ate dinner here and our waitress was awful. Her name is Sofia P. and she did not check on us, refill drinks, or ask us if we needed anything. She never cleared he dirty dishes off our table. She just allowed them to sit there. She dropped the check on the table without saying a word and left without eye contact. She did all these things for guests around us but not for us as if we didnt exist. I've been a waitress previously before and she missed all the important qualities of being a waitress. Treat all your customers the same and and DO NOT treat any of them lower than the rest. Next time I come here I will request to sit with another waitress/waiter.
