I had Lasik around 2000 with Dr. Abell and had the upgraded premium lens cataract surgery. I am so thankful I made the decision for the upgrade! I no longer need my reading glasses. It is very important when you have the upgraded cataract surgery to complete the full treatment which takes 12-14 months! I have really dry eyes and was worried that surgery would make it worse. I am restored to 20/20 reading vision!!! So thankful to Dr. Abell and his staff!

Dr. Abell:
1. Performed unnecessary surgery for eye pressure. $700.00
2. Wrote wrong prescription for eyeglasses
3. I went back to have him check for new prescription and he didn't even examine me. He actually held my glasses up to the light and said they were made wrong. According to him two pair of glasses were made wrong. $500.00
4. I made an appointment for a new exam at another office where they checked for any signs of pressure or damage from pressure, results indicated no pressure and no damage form previous pressure.
5. They checked my vision and wrote a different prescription that actually works. $1000.00 The eye doctor had me look through the prescription I received from Dr. Abell and then the one they wrote and the difference was unbelievable. I can see, I can read, I can do my job, no thanks to Dr. Abell.
6. I also had to take off 2 days of work because he refused to make an appointment past 3:30 even though I could have worked a full day and been at his office by 4:00. Nevermind the fact that each appointment I had he left me sitting in the waiting room or operating area until 5:00.
7. I have attempted to contact the billing department but only get a machine for a message.

Bottom Line: I do not recommend Dr. Abell. I am convinced that he performs unnecessay expensive treatments on clients. If you go to his office at any time each person who checks out is scheduled to return for laser treatment for "eye pressure." It is highly unlikely that everyone needs that treatment.

Excellent LASIK treatment nearly 15 years ago, cataract treatment 5 years ago, and laser treatment for glaucoma last year...my vision is better than normal and I like the fact that Dr. Abell personally discusses all of my health issues, exercise regimens and general well being outside of my vision care.
