Saved my dog once so I can't be too critical but sometimes it seems like techs not well trained and Dr not well informed regarding certain protocols.

Dr Wachal had been my vet for close to 15 years. I always paid my bill. I think in that 15 years, I had to ask to hold a check maybe twice. The deal breaker for me was being treated like a five-year-old and I had a bill tossed at me and he said. "I need your new address before you leave" The address was the same as it had been since 2001. Turns out.....Who ever sent the bills out, didn't put postage on it. It also seems he doesn't care about the animals anymore only what tests you should or shouldn't run. Tired of the upselling that was pushed at me. I just wanted to know why my cat was sick He's the vet, not me. Turns out my cat has a food allergy and is loved by his new vet! Sorry Dr Wachal, but I didn't deserve to be treated like a child.

I made a couple mistakes trying to get my dog boarded for the first time ever and so I called Wachal and they were there for me in a tight spot. The service was excellent and they cared a lot about my dog. Highly recommend this place.

I quit going to Wachal after 10 years and numerous family/friend referrals for the simple fact he cares more about money than he does animals( I don't think he cares for animals at all and anyone that sees him interact with one would be inclined to agree). This is supported by the experiences I will explain below. First he wanted to treat my dog for Giardia(sp) a parasite in the intestine. He told me and my partner that 1) Our dog would likely get it again since we frequented dog parks. 2) That because our dog displayed no signs or symptoms that she would be fine if left untreated. So, seeing as she was just going to get it again and it wasn't hurting her we opted to not treat her. So, why was Wachal wanting to treat her? He had just said himself in no uncertain terms that was pointless..? maybe he didnt think we caught his contradiction. His arrogance blinds him from recognizing the ability in others, perhaps? Another obvious observation one might make about him. The end of that dogs and ultimately my relationship with Wachal came when I discovered I could purchase pet meds online for significantly cheaper and called to ask him to release the prescription for heart worm meds and such to the company online. He declined and said he would give me a discount forcing me to continue to buy from him. The discount offered was not comparable to the one Online and his reason for refusing wasn't because it was in the best interest of the animal, it was in his best interest financially. I changed vets until one day my cat was seizing and Wachal was only three blocks away so I took her there scared and panicked to be told by Dr. Frey that I had an outstanding balance I they would not help me. I thought that was deplorable especially after learning later that day the balance I wasn't even aware I owed was just $10.00. I took my dying cat to A-4 where I was always treated with compassion and learned my cat needed to be euthanized. Shame on them for making my cat suffer over something so trivial. He is a disgrace to all those that consider themselves animal ambassadors and his profession. In addition, I waited on him while bartending in the haymarket during a football Saturday, he did not tip. So, if the way he treats animals doesn't tell you of his character that should! Or, it would if you've ever worked in the service industry. Find a different vet folks if you care about your pet!

I LOVE Wachal Pet Health Center. I wish I could give them more than five stars! There are minimal to no wait times, and both Drs. Jordan and Wachal are wonderful. I've taken my rabbits to the Wachal Pet Health Center for a few years, and I have never had a bad experience. The vets and the techs are so pleasant and you can tell they truly care about animals. The facility is clean and well-maintained. I always look forward to being greeted by their live-in cat.
