Great home cooked food. I eat here for lunch at least twice per week and on Sundays.

Unsure what to expect but the pictures of the food others had posted looked good. Wife had fried chicken, white beans, & yams. I opted for ckn tetrizini, green beans, & yams. Both of us chose cornbread. Wife liked it all, thou thought yams overly sweet and cornbread overly dry. I agree with her opinion of the cornbread, and my green beans may have come right fron a can lacking any seasonings. However the yams were to my liking and there was a load of ckn in the pasta dish. There seemed to be a constant flow of folks coming in for takeout. We ate here after the regular lunch hour but before 2pm. Service was quick and hospitable. We wouldn't hesitate to go back

If you are in the Downtown area and have a craving for some soul food for breakfast or lunch, this is the place. If you are want to stop by for breakfast while headed to work, I suggest calling in your order. The wait can be a little lengthy.

I had the fried chicken, yams, greens, yeast roll, and peach cobbler...for lunch...yes I was stuffed, there were no bites left, and I'm ok with that. The chicken is excellent, it's good like I wish mamma made it like this when I was growing up. The yams we're spot on and the greens were even better. That yeast roll though...dang it was the best I have had in recent memory, it may be among the best period. Peach cobbler isn't my favorite of the cobblers but I am so happy I go it, this one was was good enough to convert me.
The attention to detail and service here set it in another league!
