Tried Flying Fish Saturday around noon time for the first time after it was recommended. When we first walked in we didn't know what to do if to seat ourselves or what but quickly realized you walk on in to where the counter was. Stood in line waiting to order and as soon as we start to place our order a guy walks up grabs beers and wants to know if he has to stand in line to pay for them and of course they didn't make him so they stop our process to cater to him which was a strike for me. I ordered the catfish shrimp combo with fries and a side salad, my husband ordered the whole catfish meal with fries and a side salad and our son got the cheeseburger meal. Everyone thought the food was good. I didn't like the fries but everything else was good. I really like the setup of the restaurant, pay for your food they give you a buzzer for when your food's ready and go find your table. Might possibly give it another try if I'm downtown and craving fish.

I was there today with two of my friends.the food was very delicious. We had red snapper and grilled shrimp. It's been a long time since i enjoy a meal like that.

I had Salmon, my wife had rainbow trout. Both Way over cooked! Gumbo is acceptable, really needs more seasoning. Margaritas very good. Over all it was ok!! Service was very friendly!! Clean restaurant.

Cozy casual environment with a classic diner feel. Great condiments on the tables. Food takes awhile but worth the wait. The red snapper was good quality with a nice portion, although slightly dry since a tad overcooked for me, although not overcooked enough to detract from enjoying every bite. The beans and rice were a nice side along with the grilled vegetables. The boiled shrimp appetizer was terrific. Good large shrimp (would not classify as jumbo, I would classify as large) with a fresh flavor and firm moist texture rarely found outside of the Gulf Coastal areas. Highly recommend to both the traveler having a seafood craving from being land locked in the Midwest to the local who simply enjoys seafood as fresh as you can get without heading to the coast.

I ordered the jumbo shrimp and also catfish filets. My friend ordered simple cheeseburger combo. Another person ordered shrimp gumbo and bacon wrapped poppers I think that was called. It's peppers wrapped in bacon. Everything was HORRIBLE. The shrimp was huge and flat. It tastes like gummy chewy dough. The fish was just nothing. Under seasoned and just tasteless. The burger... Wow. It was more like a lettuce and tomato sandwich with a hint of beef. I didn't try the gumbo but my friend could not hold it in after we got to the car. He said it was HORRIBLE and of course the proper things we just trash. Long long line that gives you the impression of good food. I realize everybody does not like the same things but this was the worst. Never going again and I wouldn't recommend you do either.
