At first it was scary because accepting you have a mental illness is hard, but I received the help and hope I needed. Dr. Friedler was great. He took the time to know me. Thanks to all the staff in unit 3. The follow up has been great. I'm also loving the PHP and the staff. Carlos is an amazing therapy group facilitator. Thanks for all that you do. I'm very grateful for all the help I have received from Kaiser during this time of crisis.

911 saved my life. KMHC showed me how to live.
For those of you with loved ones inside: They are being cared for with dignity, compassion, and kindness.

I was sent here by my husband (apparently my consent wasn't needed) in April 2007. I had Postpartum Psychosis. My daughter was 5 weeks old. Yes, I had lost touch with reality (similar to A Besutiful Mind) but I was not a danger to myself or others. I was strapped and held down against my will like an animal taken from Kaiser Panorama City to this hospital. I was so scared. I just wanted to go home. I walked toward to door and I was tackled down by several employees and given a shot in my hip or maybe my butt. I was then sent to my room. This place was horrible. All my rights were gone and I was treated worst than an animal in a shelter before being put down. Finally, after 14 days I was able to go home. I would not send my worst enemy here.

Updated.
After my mother consented. Doctor Anderson immediately called and explained why he can't contact me. And explained how they were tied by law of patients privacy right. And I have to apologized for being really upset but that s because I didn't know ,all I was told was someone will call me back but no one did.
I also received phone call from miss Teresa, the manager who calmly explained how they can't talk to the family if the patient does not give them a consent.
They also will talk to the nurse to not giving "leave the number. We will call back"
Because not knowing and waiting is painful for the family. I asked them for , in the future, please just be straight forward to the family. But be gentle. They are in the crisis. And will need a little explanation of why can't they get any information.
