I enjoy coming to the Irish River in both times of happiness and sadness. Real good comfort food and great service. They also know how to pour a proper pont of Guinness. If you go have the Scotch eggs.

A favorite for years. Always consistently great food, service and atmosphere. A must, anytime friends or family come to visit. Outstanding whiskey selection, as well. Do yourself a favor and give The Irish Rover a try. You'll be glad that you did.

Great place. Friendly staff and awesome food choices. Fish and chips are phenomenal. Definitely coming back. Sad it took me so long to check it out.

I love this place.
They got my order wrong and fixed it instantly. No huffy or rudeness.

They are so polite and awesome.

It's Kentucky best kept secret.

Their food is beyond delicious. Cooked to perfection and always just amazing

You have try the scotch eggs. And you have try the Irish blt.

Their wine and beer menu is great along with their whiskey, scotch, and other liquors.

The Rover used to be a family favorite when I was growing up. The owner is from County Clare in the Republic of Ireland and he wanted to create as authentic of an Irish experience for Louisvillians as he could, which really shows in the menu and in the decor. Truthfully, I'm pretty biased toward this restaurant due to my love of Ireland and the sentimental memories that I have of this place, but I strive to be as objective as I can in my reviews.
On that note, the service here likely won't blow your mind. While the owner managed to capture a great many aspects of Irish culture, he can't force his workers to attain that fabled level of Irish hospitality. Don't get me wrong -- the servers are very nice and my order has always been accurate, but they usually seem too busy to engage in conversation or beyond polite formality. That being said, I would be happy to eat here every single week.
I highly recommend the cottage pie, the fish and chips, the seafood pie, and the lamb stuffed cabbage. And don't forget to wash it down with a good pint of something nice.
