Great place for children to learn what all the religions believe and participate in interfaith activities as well as community volunteering.

I first heard of this place a few years ago, and it seemed great to me. I wanted a church type of place, a community of more like-minded individuals, and as a left-leaning atheist, typical Christian churches just didn't appeal to me. I didn't start going until last year, and it seemed great at first, but then the cracks started showing up.
One thing I've always disliked about Christian churches is their intolerance of other beliefs and ideologies, and the First UU church promised to be a place where these things were set aside and the focus was on our similarities and spiritual bond as human beings. Not here. Everything is very politically charged here, a very "Republicans are bad, wrong people" mentality.
They tend to look down their noses at anything that doesn't conform to a neo-liberal, pro-atheist stance. They want to tackle social justice, but only through a lens of "This is all the right wing's fault!". They like to admonish Christianity for being dogmatic and bigoted (UU churches aren't supposed to bash other creeds and religions, btw), but they are just as dogmatic, bigoted, and intolerant as the Christian churches, except about the opposing stances! It's maddening!
After going here for several months, I've decided to call it quits. They embody all of the traits I was trying to escape in a church, and they lack the self-awareness to see that. I hope they can change, because there is a lot of potential in that place.

They deny Jesus as God!

These are the most absolutely wonderful people. My partner and I were looking for a place to get married following the recent supreme court ruling, and everyone here has been supportive and just so friendly. It's not an opulent building or ornate but is lovingly charming. If every church was like these great people, we would have a world that was like them, kind compassionate and accepting.
