They are amazing. Wonderful. I have been going there for twelve years. Will never bring my animals anywhere else. They are like family.

I have been going here since 2000, when Dr. Devine graciously helped me with my dog Mica (a gentle soul who was a pet therapy dog and whom I still miss every day even though she passed in 2006). We live in Brookline, NH and there are literally a dozen veterinary centers that are closer to our home but we have been loyal to Bedford Animal Hospital for the compassionate care they have provided in the past. Several years ago, when our cat Piper developed recurring stones causing urethral strictures, Dr. Sofield successfully performed a cystourethrectomy on Piper that both saved his life and has given him a good quality of life (kudos to their former associate Megan Connelly, now at Lexington-Bedford Animal Hospital for the great care and love she provided for Piper during his long covalescence).
That being said, Piper has developed over the last 10 months a progressively invasive brain tumor, with symptoms including repetitive sneezing fits, and bleeding from his right nostril. He was treated with multiple antibiotics and lysine without relief last spring, but it became clear that if Drs. Devine or Sofield were not available there was not much help to be offered by Dr. Watts or Dr. Kirby, forcing us to go to Advanced Veterinary Care in Manchester for not only emergencies like our German Shepherd's porcupine misadventure last March, but for routine things when Dr. Devine or Dr Sofield were not available. The last straw came yesterday, when it became quite apparent to me after being away from home for 10 days that Piper's tumor had grown significantly during the time I was away. As a physician, I often use dexamethasone to provide comfort and symptom relief for patient's suffering from brain tumors like glioblastomas etc.. Since the cat had been seen there 11 days prior on September 5 (along with our 2 dogs, and the total bill coming to over $800), I called up thinking that they would be willing to prescribe weight appropriate dexamethasone as part of compassionate care for cat, without having to drag him out as he is in the process of dying. Boy was I wrong. The DVM on call "did not feel comfortable" prescribing anything for an animal that she had not seen. The whole point of a group practice is to be able to cover each other's patients using sound clinical judgement based upon the particular problem involved, not a rigid policy based on a lack of thought, insight or compassion.
Logically one can only conclude that the on call DVM is either a total incompetent ass or did not take the time to review the records, or the notes from the September 5, 2017 visit were so inadequate that they could not make a decision. Any of those options does not put Bedford Animal Hospital in a very good light. Moreover, as Piper was having similar symptoms on September 5, why did they not suggest dexamethasone then? If I did not have medical knowledge, the cat would have continued to suffer.
We obtained dexamethasone, gave it to the cat and within 8 hours he was markedly more comfortable without sneezing fits or bleeding. Based on this series of events, we are changing veterinarians effective immediately. Draw your own conclusions.

I Bring my pup Winni here for everything, my parents have been with them for years for all of their animals. When you get great service, your customers return. BAH has always been good to Winni and I.

Vets are very good, however, when dealing with the administrative staff I have often found them to be extremely rude and unprofessional as of late. It's a shame, because this use to be an excellent facility. We shall be looking elsewhere for our dog's care in the future.

A great place for my puppy. They have flexibility in hours so I am able to schedule appointments in the evening as well as on Saturdays. Great doctors and staff. We are really fortunate to have several great Veterinary options in the Bedford area.
