Heizer trailhead

Heizer Trail is a well built trail with good switchbacks. Unfortunately it does not have a grand top. No grand views. Even it's view of Pikes peak is a bit ordinary. It climbs a steep hill for over 1500 ft altitude gain.

We love to take this trail to it's highest point! Rated "difficult" on AllTrails. Heart pumping on the way up (steep!) and quad-killer on the way down. Approx 2500 ft elevation change. Fabulous views and lite traffic. Park in town and walk to trailhead.

Locals have put up no parking signs at the trail-head lot, at the nearby park, and just about any place nearby. USFS should look into this.

This is a nice hiking trail. I only hiked a portion of it. The trail is well-marked. Unfortunately there is no parking at the trailhead. You must Park in the surrounding neighborhood and hike up to the trailhead.
