Named for a nearby rock formation, the Scotsman Picnic Ground is a neat little spot for families to get out and enjoy a quiet section of Garden of the Gods. The grounds are conveniently placed, but separated from the parking lot and main road by a bridge over a small arroyo. The tables have some shade and fairly adequate spacing between them to allow for some privacy, but on weekends and especially summer holidays when the grounds are full, it can still seem a bit crowded. Each table has a small, box-type charcoal grill that allows for 6-8 burgers at a time. Most if not all tables are wheelchair accessible, making a rolling cooler a good choice. Nearby trails allow short hikes to excellent views of Pikes Peak and nearby rock formations. There are bathrooms, but depending on the time of year, they may not be in operation. Be aware that there are just enough parking spaces, and it's possible to miss the turn into the lot, requiring a 10 minute trip around the one-way loop. This picnic ground is worth the time to find and experience!

Beautiful and discreet stop on the Garden of the Gods. Be warned, bathrooms are closed for the winter.

Great views, the far end of the loop got us away from the crowd but was still accessible by my younger kids.

Great out of the way place to have a bite to eat and let the kids run around. My son discovered the horse trail which we ended out hiking up to some cool views.
