I just finished a Beetle Burger with smoked gouda cheese...wow! The meat was cooked perfectly, the sourdough bun was great and the smoked gouda complemented it all so well.

The food was quite good. The atmosphere was super casual. There was seating outside. They do serve beer, although I don't drink it seems they have quite a selection. Parking is a problem, hence the 4 instead of 5. This is "downtown" so expect what you expect at every downtown place.

Tasty southern food, laid back atmosphere, and friendly bar keep make for a good time. The tavern, is a nice slice of Memphis and the oldest in town.

My favorite dive bar and I mean that as a compliment! The Beetle Burger is amazing and a Tuesday lunch special. Never had anything bad from their menu.
Legend has it that Memphis' own Machine Gun Kelly shot up the joint back before he was apprehended. True or not, this is a great hidden gem and a true pleasure.

Proclaimed as one of the oldest businesses in Memphis (newpaper articles on the walls support this), the Green Beetle offers some excellent fare and a healthy selection of ethanol infused beverages for the South Main visitor. The staff is friendly, and atmosphere is humble and cozy, and the clientele ranges from the college students to the tourist. I have been here multiple times, and have never had anything less than a great experience.
