Originally from Racine, WI, now live in San Antonio TX. Took my husband on a long road trip and this was one of our stops. He enjoyed it and we bought tee's, the Bartender was awesome with all the info and jokes... We will be back for a beer and a tour next year... Thanks!

If you enjoy cigars, there aren't a lot of places around to enjoy them. That gives Shakers 3 stars right off the bat. Great ambiance - it's a historic building with its own ghost stories and everything. There may even be a palm reader for those who believe. Prices are not for the faint hearted. A decent cigar can set you back $30, so bring your own and spend your money on expensive whiskey instead.

If you want to step back in time, then this is the place for you. I love Victorian decor. It appears they kept everything original. I had a smile on my face looking at what some of the people were wearing in here. They dressed up old world looking, which added to the atmosphere.
I went with some friends from work to smoke cigars(which is a plus side also for this place) not knowing that Professor Pinkerton and The Magnificents were playing. The band is by far the best band I have seen yet in Milwaukee. Their style is a Jazzy, Big Band sound. Very talented. Let it be noted that, we sat right in front of the band and volume was perfect. I could still hear my friends talking to me without yelling "what!" all the time.
For how busy the place was for a Thursday night, the waitress was friendly and always made sure that we were taken care of. I was informed that the food is delicious here too.
All in all we had a great time and will be returning to Shakers again.

Awesome ghost tour and tour guide, drinks are a bit pricey but they're strong, and people are very friendly.

My boyfriend and I stopped in a few weeks ago for the first time after I had heard about it on the podcast, Real Ghost Stories Online. Not certain what to expect, we walked in around 3 on a Saturday. We were the only ones there and were welcomed in by a young bartender. We easily got the best service either of us had ever experienced as he told us a brief history of the place as well as some of his own experiences there. He recommended a delicious pizza was quick with all of his service. As we were the only ones there a that time we figured the service could not be quite as good if we went during a busy time another day. We were proven wrong on our second visit, as the service was every bit as good the second time around. Love this bar and all of the quirks along with it!
