As a personal trainer, I have partnered with a lot of gyms with great success. The owner of this location makes it impossible. He even interrupted a session with a client demanding my insurance information, which I told him earlier I'd provide. I hired another trainer who left this club as well. He doesn't respect customers or trainers. I love the look of the gym, but the owner makes it impossible to enjoy it.

Getting a hair cut (or like me, a $35 hair cut with Kerastase treatment)? Don't -- save your money and go somewhere else. Once I was finally taken back to the "salon," the stylist told me she had a problem with the customer before her, and it was her first day on the job. Don't get me wrong... She was a nice girl. Just very green when it comes to hair.
First, she washed my hair. I thought I was going to be receiving a full Kerastase moisturizing/repair treatment. All she did was spray a couple squirts of something on my hair, immediately washed it out, and started roughly combing through my wet hair -- which I already told her was damaged (why I'm there to get a cut). Definitely NOT how you're supposed to treat healthy hair, let alone damaged hair.
All I wanted was an angled bob (think Jennifer Aniston). Not too short. She assured me that she's done it before, and began cutting. After about 15 minutes or so, she barely dried it, and asked if it looked ok. Nothing at all like the picture. Not even close. I told her it should be a little more curled under to actually look like a "bob," let alone an angled bob (which it wasn't at all). While my hair was still really damp, she tried bluntly curling it under, and seemed confused why it wasn't curling immediately. C'mon, my hair was wet!
After looking in the mirror, the cut was completely uneven, and much shorter than than requested. So choppy, in fact, that I've since put my hair back (as much as I can) into a ponytail until I can get it fixed elsewhere. Upon doing so, I'm sure my hair will be WAY shorter, since there is quite a lot to even out.
Yes, it's just hair and it grows back, but the money spent... I could've paid $10 more and seen a real pro (Andre Franca in St Paul). Seeing that this Livingsocial deal included a conditioning treatment, I thought it was a good deal due to the added conditioning treatment. Little did I know this "conditioning treatment" was just using a spray-in conditioner. I mean, it wasn't left on for even a few minutes. It was sprayed in, and washed out. Done.
Normally if I just didn't care for a service, I wouldn't write a review, but this was horrible. You'd think being at the Ivy Hotel that it wouldn't be *that* bad. I really hate to say this, but I could've received the same uneven, choppy cut at any other chop-shop and saved a lot of money. Needless to say, I won't be back.

I was a member of the Ivy Spa Club for a year before I moved out of Minneapolis. I loved going there! I would go in to the fitness center and spa with a lot of stress built up and I would leave refreshed. For the cost of a cup of coffee each I deeply enjoyed the replenishing experience. After 15 minutes in their steam room I would feel so much enjoyment of life regardless of how much stress I had before entering!

My experience at IVY spa wasn't very positive. My main concern was with the cleanliness of the locker room and shower area. I was DISGUSTED with how much hair there was (in addition to used razors, glasses, etc.). I brought up this issue with a management few days later and I was appalled by comments that were made. How can you excuse the fact that the spa is dirty? Or that the door in the steam room wouldn't close letting the hot air out? Or that towels were not restocked in the locker room? In addition, they offered us a $16 refund on $250+ services. As a business owner I would be embarrassed to offer such a compensation to my clients. Save yourself from a bad experience! There are much better spas in town!

After visiting this spa more than once, I find that I enjoy it more and more each time. The staff of therapists are wonderful! The facility is gorgeous and I LOVE that fact that you can spend the whole day there! I like to come about 2 hours before my treatment and workout, then steam or sauna and shower before heading to my appointment. Afterwards i can grab some tea and take a whirlpool. I recently received the Beyond Botox facial and a massage and I cant even tell you how amazing the 2 women who performed these services were! I left feeling soo great! Very clean but kinda plain. The walls could use some decor. The front desk was so welcoming, the locker room attendant was very helpful and the overall being of the facility was great. Definitely a 10 out of 10!
