Was alright the first time I brought my pet Rats in but after that it went down hill. I called because one was choking and got told they would call back later never did, left emails never got a response. Went in multiple times kept getting same response of its just a couch and some conjestion....my rat died Wednesday April 11 2017. Yesterday....she died of Pneumonia of which should have been caught in time to save her as we where in less then 6 weeks ago. The Dr made us wait about 5 minuets before he would see us as she layed in my hands unable to breath and listless (unresponsive) and trying to force herself to breath only to take us back into the room listen to her lungs say it's Pneumonia and that she is to far gone to be saved and only has a couple hours. And then continued saying if it was HIS animal he would put IT down....he didn't even use her name and kept pressing to put her down (I eventually gave in...due to me not wanting her to suffer) I had my girls because they where service animals being as I have Sevier depression and anxiety and have a really hard time with suicidal thoughts losing one of my girls really hurts. He was not compassionate about it either he just said he would put her in a box and seemed irritated when I asked about cremation for her and it would have been 130$ if I didn't want the ashes and 170$ if I had wanted the ashes. Before I could even finish saying goodbye they left the room and took her away and put her down bringing her back in a taped box.....To me I consider this malpractice because there was no reason for this to happen. If he had done his job right all she would have needed was stronger antibiotics and a nebulizer to help make her better. The medicine he put her on for the cough in no way would have been able to help her as it was to weak. I am very displeased with this vet and would not recommend bringing any small animals here or other animals if you can avoid it.

Was highly impressed with these folks. Loving and gentle with my animals. They treat your animals like they are their own. Pleasant and understanding people. Reasonable prices. Have been searching for a good vet and finally found one. Love them.!

Supposedly was our vet. Called @ 8:01 because our puppy is very very sick. They are too busy to see her. Puppy has not ate or drank since 8pm last night and puked much of the night.

The Southgate Animal Hospital is THE BEST place to take your animals. Dr. Thompson and his staff are so caring and professional. He is open from 8am until 8pm everyday, but Sunday. When we board our pets, they are always well taken care of. We definitely recommend Southgate Animal Hospital!
