My little girl started her journey with Hicks & McMurphy as a 7 year old. We have been amazed with the steady progress and excellent service with each visit. Dr. Hicks genuinely cares about her, and the staff is second to none. They have always made her feel special, down to little details like changing her colored bands often. Those things matter to a little girl, and they are great with her.

I believe the Drs themselves have a very high standard of care. However, we had multiple issues with the office including the insurance dept, several of the assistants were very rough and rude and many times when we would show up for appointments we would be there for an hour or more and nothing would be done but 'looking in their mouth'. They have a policy that covers a replacement retainer for the first one that's lost or broken. My daughter who has been out of braces for 1 year and 8 months had hers (original one) destroyed/chewed by a dog and when I called to have it replaced they informed me it's only good for 1 year and then continued to explain that a patient lost hers after 2 weeks and got one free but because my daughter had kept up with hers for 1 year and 8 months, hers would cost $260! So if you use them, before your year is up, I would suggest that you go in and say you lost yours and get the replacement for any future mishaps. My younger daughter needed braces so when my daughter asked if she would get the referral gift that they advertise all over their office, they said "no we assume that family will come to us anyway". I'm sorry but shouldn't you be willing to treat a family well who has already paid you over $5,500 and has the potential of doing it again and again? A referral is a referral!!! Needless to say, we used a different orthodontist and have been so amazed at the difference in how we are all treated from the time we walk in the door. My teenagers have even commented on how different it is. Our new orthodontist even offered to replace the retainer (for a patient that is not even theirs) for less and was so much better to work with. I was curious and asked what their policy was on retainers so I would know for my younger daughter and when their patients come out of braces they give them 3 sets so that they always have a backup. If Hicks and McMurphy want to keep the referrals coming they really need to learn to take care of their own.
